Marina Bay is the night race that lands in an Indian living room before dinner, not after midnight, and the 2026 start time is now a published local clock rather than a rumour. The Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix race is scheduled for Sunday, 11 October 2026, at 20:00 Singapore time, which is 5:30 PM IST. That local start is in the FIA and Formula 1 start-times table for the 2026 season. The race weekend on the F1 calendar is 9–11 October, and Singapore is a sprint round. The circuit is Marina Bay.

The same Sunday evening in India is also the third India vs West Indies T20I in Indore at 7:00 PM IST. The race starts ninety minutes earlier. They will overlap if both run to a normal length. Put both in the calendar under different names.

Verification note: Race 20:00 local, sprint 17:00 local, qualifying 21:00 local, from Formula1.com’s official 2026 start-times article. Weekend dates from the 2026 F1 calendar: 9–11 October, Singapore, sprint. United States Grand Prix coverage already exists on this site and is a different round, 23–25 October in Austin.

Session clocks worth saving

  • Weekend: Friday 9 to Sunday 11 October 2026
  • Sprint: Saturday 10 October, 17:00 SGT, which is 2:30 PM IST
  • Qualifying: Saturday 10 October, 21:00 SGT, which is 6:30 PM IST
  • Race: Sunday 11 October, 20:00 SGT, which is 5:30 PM IST, 1:00 PM BST, 8:00 AM EDT
  • Circuit: Marina Bay Street Circuit, Singapore

Singapore is UTC+8 and does not use daylight saving. India is UTC+5:30. The gap is two hours and thirty minutes, and it does not flip in October. British Summer Time is still in force on 11 October, so 20:00 in Singapore is 13:00 in Britain, not 12:00. US Eastern is still on daylight time, so the race is 8:00 AM in New York. A calendar event saved as 8:00 PM in New York is twelve hours late.

Practice and sprint-qualifying clocks are not copied here from the “my time” column on the circuit page, because that column follows the viewer’s zone and is easy to misread as local. The start-times article is the source for sprint, qualifying and the race. If you need FP1, open formula1.com in race week and read the session list in track time.

Where to watch

A compiled list of Indian sports rights places Formula 1’s 2024–28 digital rights with Dream Sports’ FanCode, and lists no linear television partner in that row. Confirm the FanCode tile for Singapore in the week of the race. Rights rows on Wikipedia-style compilations can lag a commercial change; the app listing is the check.

In the UK, Sky Sports F1 is the established home of the world championship and is the listing to open. In the United States, the 2026 broadcast home has been discussed around new streaming deals in secondary reports; the FIA start-times article itself does not name a US channel. Treat the US feed as something to confirm on the F1 broadcast finder rather than as a fact this page will invent. Where F1 TV Pro is sold, it is geo-restricted in markets that have a local rights holder. If the app offers only timing and a delayed replay, you are in one of those markets.

What a Marina Bay Sunday involves

Singapore is a street circuit run entirely under lights. The race is one of the longer ones on the clock for a viewer because safety cars and virtual safety cars are common when barriers are close, but this preview will not predict a safety-car count. The sporting fact is the start time and the sprint format. Sprint weekends change the shape of Saturday: a shorter race on Saturday awards points under the sprint rules for 2026, and Sunday qualifying is not the only grid-setting session. Read the weekend timetable rather than a 2024 memory of which session sets which grid. The 2026 regulations are a new rules cycle. Car shapes and tyre labels from 2025 articles should not be pasted in as if nothing changed. If a technical detail is not in the race preview you personally opened on formula1.com, leave it out.

Heat and humidity are part of the event for anyone going to the circuit. Session times in the early evening and night are the scheduled answer to that climate. Spectator gate times are a ticket-holder document, not part of the FIA start-times table. This page does not list ticket prices.

Non-betting things the race actually turns on

  1. The sprint result’s effect on grid or tyre choice only if the 2026 sporting regulations say it does. Check the article, do not assume.
  2. Safety-car windows, which bunch the field and make strategy visible even to a casual viewer.
  3. Track limits and yellow flags on a street layout, which decide penalties after the chequered flag as often as during it.
  4. Driver cooling and error rate in the second half of the race.
  5. The official classification, which can change in the hours after the flag if penalties are applied.

No odds, no “lock of the week”. A race guide is a timetable plus a way to watch.

Do not mix this up with Austin or with Indore

The United States Grand Prix guide is Austin, 23–25 October, a different continent and a different IST window. The India vs West Indies T20I series includes Indore on this same Sunday at 7:00 PM IST. The Lucknow T20I is the previous Tuesday. The Caleb Williams NFL note is American football, not open-wheel racing, and it will not give you a Marina Bay start.

A publisher who runs both a race hub and a cricket hub should keep the schemas separate. That is routine work for our web development and digital marketing teams when a brand covers more than one sport.

Weekend checklist

  • Sprint: Saturday 2:30 PM IST.
  • Qualifying: Saturday 6:30 PM IST.
  • Race: Sunday 5:30 PM IST.
  • Then, if you also follow cricket, Indore at 7:00 PM IST.
  • Confirm FanCode or whichever India tile is live. Do not use an unofficial stream.

A sprint Saturday before a race Sunday

Singapore’s Saturday is two appointments, not one. The sprint at 2:30 PM IST is a full race with points under the sprint rules, short enough that a viewer can watch it and still have an afternoon. Qualifying at 6:30 PM IST is the session that sets Sunday’s grid, and it is easy to miss if you only put “race” in the calendar. Set both. If you are in India and you also want the Indore T20I at 7:00 PM on Sunday, the race at 5:30 PM is the conflict, not the sprint. Saturday is the cleaner Formula 1 day for a cricket household. Sunday is the compromise.

Street-circuit weekends also punish late arrivals at the track. The sporting timetable is not the gate-opening timetable. Spectators should read the circuit’s access note for 2026 rather than a 2024 blog’s recommended train. The FIA start time does not move because a train is late. On television, the world feed’s opening shot is usually the paddock in daylight fading into floodlights. That visual is how you know you are on the right session. If the cars are in daylight and the graphic says Sunday race, you are on a replay or on the wrong sport.

Humidity is the other thing the commentary will mention all evening. It is a real condition of a night race on a street by the water, and it shows up as driver cooling and as mistakes, not as a number this preview should invent. You do not need a track-temperature graphic from a previous year. Watch the visors and the pit-wall radio captions if the world feed shows them. The race start remains 5:30 PM IST even if the formation lap feels longer than you expected.
