Black Friday 2026 Sale Date: 27 November

Black Friday is a date first and a discount second. The date is fixed by Thanksgiving. The discounts are whatever each retailer later decides to publish, and in late September 2026 most of those 2026 doors are still shut. Black Friday 2026 is Friday, 27 November. Anyone who quotes you a guaranteed percentage off a named laptop for that morning is ahead of the retailers.

Verification note: Thanksgiving 2026 is Thursday 26 November, so Black Friday is Friday 27 November and Cyber Monday is Monday 30 November. Amazon has confirmed a different event, Prime Big Deal Days, for 6–7 October 2026. As of mid-September reporting, Amazon’s own Black Friday and Cyber Monday pages were still describing the previous year’s windows. Treat specific 2026 Black Friday hours for Amazon, Flipkart, Croma, Reliance Digital and every other chain as not yet confirmed unless the retailer has posted them on its own site.

The Friday, in IST and US time

• US Eastern that week: standard time, 10 hours 30 minutes behind IST. Midnight at the start of Friday in New York is 10:30 AM IST on Friday 27 November.

US stores that open “at midnight” or “at 6 AM local” are opening on Friday morning in America, which is Friday afternoon or evening in India. A Kolkata shopper refreshing a US site at Friday 9 AM IST is still on Thursday evening in New York. Wait for the American Friday, or you will be staring at Thursday’s prices and blaming the website.

India has no Black Friday public holiday. Offices are open. If an Indian marketplace runs a sale with the same name, that is a marketing label. It is not the US shopping holiday, and its hours are not yet confirmed for 2026. The big confirmed India festive sales this season are earlier: Amazon’s Great Indian Festival from 8 October, and Flipkart’s Big Billion Days around the same week. Do not expect those October events to repeat themselves unchanged on 27 November.

What is confirmed, and what is a memory of 2025

Confirmed: the civil date, because it is defined as the day after US Thanksgiving. Confirmed as a separate autumn event: Amazon Prime Big Deal Days on 6–7 October 2026 for Prime members in a published list of countries. India is not on that country list. Confirmed as not the same thing: the October India festive sales.

Not yet confirmed: the hour any named US chain will open on 27 November 2026, the categories they will discount, the bank offers Indian cards will or will not work on US checkouts, and whether Amazon will repeat a multi-day “Black Friday week” or a three-day Cyber Monday window. Reports in September noted that Amazon’s customer-facing pages still carried 2025 wording. Last year’s pattern — early deals from about 20 November, a Cyber Monday stretch into 1 December — is a memory, not a 2026 announcement. We will not print it as this year’s plan.

How to shop without a rumour

• Make the list in October: model numbers, the price you would actually pay, and the size or storage you need.
• On the morning of 27 November, compare the payable price with that note. A strikethrough is not a discount until you have seen the same item cheaper than your note.
• Prefer the retailer’s own site or app. Links in WhatsApp “Black Friday groups” that ask for an OTP are a standard theft pattern.
• If you are buying from a US site into India, read the warranty and the plug and the return address before you pay. A doorbuster that cannot be returned to India is often a bad price.
• Credit-card “10% extra” banners have caps and excluded categories. Read them. We are not repeating any bank’s 2025 cap as if it were valid on 27 November 2026.

Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday

Saturday 28 November is the day US campaigns ask people to buy from independent shops. It is not a federal holiday. Monday 30 November is Cyber Monday, historically the online-heavy day after the weekend. Both dates follow from the Thursday. Neither date, by itself, tells you that a particular Indian app will run a coupon. If Flipkart or Amazon.in posts a November banner, the banner is the source. Until it exists, “India Black Friday sale starts at 12 AM” is a sentence someone made up.

For shoppers in the UK and Europe, local chains run their own Black Friday weeks, sometimes starting the Monday before. Those 2026 calendars are also not yet confirmed here. The US Friday remains 27 November either way.

What retailers should publish, and when

If you operate a store, the trustworthy sequence is: tell people the date you will publish prices, then publish prices, then honour them. A landing page in October can say “we will list Black Friday offers on 20 November” if that is a promise you can keep. It should not say “up to 80% off” until a product on the site is, in fact, that much below a recent selling price. Countdown timers that reset are a good way to lose repeat customers and a bad way to keep an advertising account in good standing.

Show IST if your buyers are in India, and show the US local time if the warehouse is in the US. “Goes live 12:01 AM EST / 10:31 AM IST, Friday 27 November” is a sentence a customer can use. “Goes live on Black Friday” is a shrug.

Diwali week is already over by the 27th. Staff who worked the 8 November rush should not be surprised by a second peak. Put the Friday on the roster in October if you intend to discount. If you do not intend to discount, say that too. Silence reads as a hidden sale.

A note you can make in October and use in November

Open a note on your phone this week. For each thing you might buy on 27 November, write the model, the size, and the lowest payable price you have actually seen in October, after bank offers, on a site you trust. On the Friday, the only comparison that matters is the new payable price against that note. If the new price is higher, you are not looking at a deal, whatever the red badge says. If it is lower by a small amount and the seller is worse, you are still allowed to skip it. Black Friday is a date. It is not an obligation to check out.

Indian buyers watching US sites should also write the delivery country. A price that only ships inside the United States is not a price for Jaipur. Warranty cards that require a US address, plugs that are not the Indian pin, and return windows that close before a parcel can fly back are all reasons a lower dollar figure can be a worse purchase. The October Great Indian Festival and Big Billion Days prices, which you can still see in order history if you bought then, are the honest Indian benchmark for phones, televisions and appliances. The November badge does not erase them.

Retailers who intend to participate should name their hour in the customer’s zone. “Live 6:00 AM EST / 4:30 PM IST, Friday 27 November” is a sentence. “Black Friday is here” posted on Thursday is a mistake that burns trust. If you are not discounting, say you are not discounting. Shoppers respect a closed door more than a fake strikethrough, and advertising policies are kinder to you when the price on the page is a price someone can pay.
